Born in Mozambique, Luisa was forced to leave her homeland when she was about eight. Growing up in Portugal, after that conflicted time, created an inner sense of displacement. Her childhood memories were scattered, and her Identity grew into wounded roots that later, in her adulthood, she needed to revisit. Luisa begins a new journey, using art to reflect her cultural heritage and to represent and depict those moments from her past. Her creative practice holds a multidisciplinary approach through Drawing, Photography, Video and Sound Installations, producing new forms and shapes into her visual perception. Menano’s artworks evoke Displacement, Diaspora, (des)colonialism and Identity.
