Dr. Luisa Menano is a scholar and artist. She has earned her Ph.D. from Southampton University, U.K. at Winchester School of Art. Her research revolved around uncertain fragments of memory encompassing: hidden memories from childhood to adulthood, exploring the relationship between time and place in a tangible direction with motherhood, displacement and diaspora.
Dr. Luisa has supervised Master degrees candidates at Fine Art Faculty, Porto University, Portugal.
Dr. Luisa has taken part in exhibiting her art pieces globally. In 2013 she exhibited in the“10 Days, Winchester – Creative Collisions”, at Winchester Cathedral, (U.K) presenting an installation piece “Dwelling Times”. Recently she participated in the “IV International Sokolovsko Festival of Ephemeral Art”, Poland and BREADMATTERS, Nicosia, Poland. Dr. Luisa has been awarded a prize at XII Biennale Vila Nova da Cerveira, Portugal, in 2003 for her video art piece.
Some of her pieces are in private collections.
Her creative practice is interdisciplinary and embodies a wide range of art work and production such as: photography, 3D sculpture, drawings, video, sound and installation. Dr. Dr. Luisa has lectured in Fine Art, Fine Art Video, Design and Contextual Studies at
Hastings College of Arts and Technology, Fareham College and Eastleigh College, Winchester University.
